Today, a steamy story of lust, desire, passion… and freezing cold at a Danish train station:
Freezing passengers had called the DSB rail company to complain that they were stuck out in the cold due to the steamy love-making of a 37-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman.
Police were called in and finally put an end to the spectacle, lecturing the couple to “go back to their bed, away from prying eyes,” Andersen said.
“I guess they weren’t real Vikings (because) they remained dressed. That’s why we didn’t charge them with indecency,” he added. – [Yahoo/AFP]
OK, I have to admit, this made me laugh. Firstly because, if I were sitting in a train station and it was freezing outside, I would not leave the warmth of my station seat just because a couple decided to get it on in the train station. Much less call the cops on the cute couple. But I’m good like that.
But the other thing is, they were still fully clothed! I mean come on! If they had actually stripped down to their birthday suits in the middle of the station, then I might have understood everyones reaction. It would certainly have elicited, at the very least, a raised eyebrow from yours truly. But no. These folks were probably still bundled in their winter gear when the “look of love” struck them. And sent every other patron of the station packing.
Typical of the curmudgeon majority to voluntarily go stand out in the cold and then call the police on people minding their own “business”… Wusses…

Taking loans from the bank of sex…
I came across an unfortunate article not too long ago. Rather unfortunate for the subject of the article. A bank manager who just didn’t have a good head for figures. Of either the female or financial variety:
A German bank manager gave loans to a woman for sex and then embezzled thousands of euros to buy the silence of her relatives, authorities said on Thursday.
In total, the man diverted some 520,000 euros ($760,000) from clients’ accounts, of which he gave about 70,000 euros to the woman, and kept 40,000 euros for himself.
Huh? Now hold on a second. According to my rusty mathematics, there is a good 41,000 euro deficit. What gives?
The biggest chunk of the cash went to her relatives who were blackmailing the bank manager, a married man with children. The manager had himself told her cousin about the sex deal. – [Yahoo/Reuters]
OOOKKKK then. How do I put this delicately. Ah. Bad form old chap.
See, here’s the thing. Notwithstanding the obvious and heinous ethical error of using your employers funds for your personal business, if you are so hard up for a date that you are willing to engage in the solicitation of sex from a stranger, then, just off the top of my head, even I can think of a several, vastly cheaper ways for you to get what you need. Not that I have any experience in that area. *cough*
Honestly, when you are stealing more to cover your blackmail note than you are making off with yourself, or your “accomplice” (for lack of a better word) for that matter, that’s just bad business. As a bank manager, I would have expected better.
Seriously. With 520,000 euros he could have paid for a live-in sex worker for those three years… And had cash to spare. Not that I would recommend it. Or, again, that have any practical experience to offer. I’m just saying…

From the “What the…!” Dept., I bring you a dose of mind numbingly unbelievable reality. The sensitive among you may want to skip this post. Otherwise, read on:

Erm. Where to begin. Ya know, I’ve got no problem with older ladies getting it on with younger men. And if you’re a young guy who likes older women, more power to you. But isn’t there a cut-off point? Don’t you have some set of criteria to help you determine exactly how old is “too old”? And wouldn’t death be a major eliminating factor? I mean, you would think that rigor mortis would be a good indicator that she’s probably way too far past her peak for the relationship to work. But it could just be me.
To be honest, (no offense intended to any 90+ year old ladies who may be reading this) I have difficulties imagining getting it on with a live 92 year old woman, never mind a dead one. But this guy… well… At least you can say he ain’t picky. That’s not what I’d say. You can say it. If you want to. But I think he’s just plain nuts.

Is the battle of the sexes over? Ummm, I think not…
A recent study suggests that, contrary to traditional beliefs, both men and women enjoy sex for primarily the same reason:
After exhaustively compiling a list of the 237 reasons why people have sex, researchers found that young men and women get intimate for mostly the same motivations. It’s more about lust in the body than a love connection in the heart.
College-aged men and women agree on their top reasons for having sex – they were attracted to the person, they wanted to experience physical pleasure and “it feels good,” according to a peer-reviewed study in the August edition of Archives of Sexual Behavior. Twenty of the top 25 reasons given for having sex were the same for men and women.
Expressing love and showing affection were in the top 10 for both men and women, but they did take a back seat to the clear No. 1: “I was attracted to the person.”
“It’s refuted a lot of gender stereotypes … that men only want sex for the physical pleasure and women want love,” said University of Texas clinical psychology professor Cindy Meston, the study’s co-author. “That’s not what I came up with in my findings.”
Forget thinking that men are from Mars and women from Venus, “the more we look, the more we find similarity,” said Dr. Irwin Goldstein, director of sexual medicine at Alvarado Hospital in San Diego. Goldstein, who wasn’t part of Meston’s study, said the Texas research made a lot of sense and adds to growing evidence that the vaunted differences in the genders may only be among people with sexual problems. – [AP]
Well, as usual (I guess) somehow I didn’t find this study to be that helpful. It could just be me, but the results seemed to be a little obvious. Not to mention that the study seemed to cripple itself in the universality department.
The first issue I saw in the study was stated in the article. They were essentially studying college kids. And the vast majority of college age kids, both male and female, spend a great deal of time thinking about sex. Their primary motivation is fun, not marriage or settling down, etc. So of course, their reasons are going to primarily be lust driven. Strike one.
Next, even within the more sexually balanced middle-aged group, the claim to gender stereotypes may not particularly be culturally valid anymore. I happen to have known several men who were really pushovers, and women who were much, much worse than men in terms of sexual predation. (Think “Sex in the city.”) Strike two.
And last, but not least, even within the hormonally boosted college demographic you could still see gender differences in the attitudes towards sex, with men tending towards being more opportunistic, and women apparently doing so to please their partner. That kinda hints that the men/Mars women/Venus thing still isn’t entirely as baseless as they suggest. Strike 3. Out!
Perhaps we shouldn’t simply abandon the idea of men being from Mars and women being from Venus. Maybe we all just ought to remember that both Mars and Venus still occupy the same solar system…
